Robert F. Houle, 87 of Pawtucket RI died peacefully at the Philip Hulitar / Hope Hospice on Saturday, December 4th.
Born in Pawtucket, RI in May 1934, he was the son of the late Oliver E. and Agnes E. (Heroux)Houle.
He was the husband of the late Mae Ann (Lima) the love of his life. Since her passing in 2018, he has kept candles lit in her honor. It brings comfort to his family, that he is now reunited with her in heaven.
He is survived by his daughter Roberta Emery (Roger) of Smithfield RI; his son Robert Meyer of Pawtucket, RI; stepdaughter Lisa Young Daluz (Robert) of Central Falls, RI; and stepson Kenneth Lema (Darlene) of South Kingstown, RI; four grandchildren, many cousins, nieces, nephews, a brother in law and sisters in law, as well as some best friends.
He was also predeceased by his brothers Eugene, Joseph, Roger, and James; his sisters Agnes Garde and Elaine Smith as well as his stepson Michael Lema.
Bob, as everyone called him, liked watching football (and was known to place friendly wagers on some games), reading the newspapers (especially sports sections), and in his “younger years” he immensely enjoyed fishing.
A veteran of the U.S. Air Force 1953-1957, Bob served during the Korean War Period. He was stationed in England as a Weather Observer. One of his favorite memories of that time was when he met up with his brother Joe (U.S. Navy) and spent a week together enjoying Ipswich and London.
He graduated from St. Raphael Academy in 1952 and Providence College in 1961. He worked as an accountant at the Fram Corporation; an office manager of his brother Gene’s company, Ranger Construction; and as Security Staff at St. Antoine’s Home for the Wells Fargo company retiring in 1992.
At Bob’s request, please omit flowers (as he always said, “They make me sneeze!”) and if you wish, send donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or the Shriners’ Hospital in memory of Bob and Mae Ann.
He has also requested no wake; however, family and friends are invited to attend his services: Mass of Christian Burial, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Pine Street in Pawtucket on Saturday, December 11th at 10 am and his burial (which will follow immediately after at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery 550 Wampanoag Trail, Riverside RI with full military honors.
Arrangements handled by Keefe Funeral Home, 5 Higginson Avenue, Lincoln RI.
